Becoming a Highly Successful Business Owner

By admin | Aug 27, 2010

Entrepreneurs StrategyI am an entrepreneur at home. I have a tutor referral service in Southern California and I am a tutor broker for eight years. I started my second business. I wrote a book about starting a tutor referral service and packaged with a customized Website and accounting software, support ads, etc. and I sell over the Internet nationally and in Canada. After starting two businesses, I learned about small business planning and strategies for success. Here are my suggestions:

A swap), outsource, outsource!

Small businesses do not have the capital to devote to all salaries in the department, legal departments, etc. externally by independent contractors, if possible. In the long run it is cheaper and is definitely a smart business decision.

2) The network as much as possible.

Join networking groups of individuals who are entrepreneurs or small business owners are together. Not only could some professionals who will find in the development and growth of your business, it is also a great way to spread the word about your business. Groups of local area networks generally limit participation to one person per sector, not to compete with someone for advice.

3) Calculate the cost of wisdom.

Initially, when you can work at home, you do so. Save up to spend money renting or leasing office space and would invest in a descent computer system, or advertising. Lower your costs where possible and take advantage of the service provider lesser known, but reliable, e.g., the Vonage phone and fax.com.

4) Find a good publicist / personal assistant.

It is important to get the word out about your new business. The definition of a public relations firm is expensive and not always worth the money. Go online and find a virtual assistant and publicist. Many offer assistance for three months at a price lowers than a public relations firm and very results can be extremely beneficial. Check out their first references and go with someone who has a proven track record. After the first three months, many VA offers you a hourly rate or monthly.

5) Develop your negotiation skills.

Learn how to talk to advertisers and get the best deal you can find pay with great success, especially when it comes to advertising. Ask your sales representative for any packages that you offer special prices to tell. Often you do not know if you ask. Tell suppliers you a new one and ask if you can pay for large projects (like a professional Website), with monthly payments. If you are involved with people of small companies have, most of them were in their shoes and will be happy to extend a monthly payment plan for you.

As a small business owner, you must be creative yet frugal. Take every opportunity you can tell people about your business. Word of mouth and business reference is priceless. Carry your business cards always and not be afraid to offer on what you say. You never know who you know, that can only turn into a wonderful opportunity!
